ASUU strike 2020 is the longest strike in the history of the country since 1999.Longest strike in history of Nigeria.
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Wednesday said it has suspended the strike action it embarked on, which started in March over the backlog of unmet agreements between its members and the federal government.
The union said it has suspended the nine-month-old strike while it monitors the compliance level of the federal government to the concessions the latter has made.
ASUU President, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, who led other National Executive Committee of the union to the event where he made the announcement, explained that the suspension takes effect from today, Wednesday 23, 2020.
The decision to suspend the action, according to Ogunyemi, followed the resolution to that effect by NEC at its meeting held earlier.
